10 Important Things to do before publishing a blog post
1. Add NoFollow and _blank Tag
You already know about these tags. Don’t you?
Anyway I am going to explain them now, with NoFollow tag in your external links the average pagerank of your site will not decrease and links with _blank tag opens in a new tab, it is for a better user experience.
How to add these tags?
If you want to add these tags manually than here is the example as if how to add them.
<a href=”http://www.example.com” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>Example</a>
If you don’t want to add them manually and if you are using WordPress than install the plugin “NoFollow Link” to add the nofollow tag and to add the _blank tag there is already an option in WordPress to do so.
2. Add an Image
You already add images to the previous posts on your BLOG but the things is do you link back to the source of the image and does the image is allowed to be used on your BLOG?
What would happen if you would do this?
The owner of the image could file a case on your BLOG or would do damage to your site’s ranking in Google SERPs easily.
so, How to find images that can be reproduced commercially?
With the help of Creative Commons you can easily find out whether an image is allowed to be use on your site or not using Google, Flickr, Pixabay, etc.
3. Add title and alt tag to the images
With keyword in your alt tag you will be albe to rank for images on Google and other major search engines image search and with the title tag you can send a message to the visitor of what the image is about or any text you want your visitors to see.
You can create sub sections in your posts with the heading in H2 tag and sub heading in H3 tag.
Adding this tags makes the post more appealing and hence, readers would be tend to read it.
And also if you would able to add your keyword in these tags than your post will be able to rank better than the others.
5. Add call to action
Ask any influential blogger in any niche whether they have call to action at the end of their post, I can bet everyone will say yes.
So, What is it?
It is basically asking the reader thoughts on the posts, asking your readers questions at the end of post is what call to action is.
With call to action you can easily motivate your readers to share their views on your posts via commenting.
6. Link to other relevant post
Linking a post to another post is not only good for SEO purposes but it also reduces the bounce rate of a blog.
But there is a precaution that should be taken before linking and that is the post should be relevant to the one you are writing. If not than there is no need of linking as still doing this will led to the bad impact on your current readers.
7. Link to a Popular Blog in your niche
Why?
Because if you want to become popular in your niche, you must have to create relations with the popular blog through linking to their one of the post and giving them free traffic.
8. Spend atleast 2 minutes on the TITLE
Title is the first thing that a visitor would see whether on search engine or on your BLOG, so you have to create attention grabbing titles by which even Albert Einstein would get attracted.
So, How to create a catchy and SEO optimized Title.
- Brainstorm 3 to 5 titles for your post.
- Adjust Targeted keywords in it, make it for the bots now.
- Make it short and silly, finally change it for the humans.
- That’s it.
9. Proofread
Checking the post for any type of mistake is what proofreading is.
Proofreading is the most important thing that everyone must do but still a majority of bloggers are not interested in proofreading, what they are interested in is to publish the post right away but that’s not good through reader’s perspective.
Don’t ever publish the post without proofreading.
10. Delete it’s Revisions
Don’t publish the post yet, first delete it’s revisions to save web space and increase speed of the BLOG (it really helps if you have a lot of post’s revisions).
To delete the post’s revisions you can install the WordPress plugin “WP-Optimize”. This plugin not only delete the post’s revisions but also can delete auto drafts, spam comments, unapproved comments and can optimized database tables too.
Now, you can hit the publish button freely but no more than one time as doing this Google would think you are spamming.
